Did you know that many scientific journals allow you to publish open access at no extra cost?

Dutch universities are working together to conclude favourable Read & Publish deals with publishers. Part of these deals involves the full or partial reimbursement of publication costs (APCs). In some cases, however, there is a maximum number of articles that can be published in open access under the deal.

To easily see which journals this is possible for, you can use the Open Access Journal Browser. This tool allows you to easily check whether a journal is covered by a Read & Publish deal. Here you will also find journals that do not charge APCs and are therefore covered by what is known as Diamond Open Access. The number of journals covered by these Read & Publish deals has increased enormously over the years, and more and more renowned journals are included.

Open University's policy is to publish as much as possible in open access. Therefore, before submitting your publication, check what options are available. If you have any questions, please contact the Library Committee Bibliotheekcommissie, or visit Open access page on our website.
